Overview

Game Changers Malaysia (or #GameChangersMY) is a competition organised by Gamification Centre UNIMAS (CreativeCulture and ACES), and supported by the State Education Department of Sarawak (JPNS). The competition aims to allow teachers and students in Sarawak to showcase their creativity in gamifying the teaching and learning of STEM Subjects! 

Objectives

#GameChangersMY Competition aims to:

  • To promote gamification of STEM subjects 
  • To provide a platform for teachers to create a playful and meaningful STEM learning experience for their students
  • To develop teachers’ competency in documenting the impact of their playful intervention in teaching.

Entry Requirements

To participate in the #GameChangersMY Competition, do take note of these requirements:

  • This competition is open to teachers and students in registered primary and secondary schools in Sarawak (public and private). 
  • There is no entry fee and each school can send a maximum of 2 teams.
  • Each team MUST consist of 2 teachers and 3 students.
  • Each team will prepare a video consisting 3 ideas to gamify the learning of topics within STEM subjects (i.e. science, technology, mathematics, engineering/technical). Max duration of the video is 10 minutes.
  • If shortlisted, each team will be given seed funds to turn these 3 ideas into prototypes for the final evaluation. 
  • The shortlisted teams will also be required to test their prototypes and submit a mini report (template to be given) together with a video demonstrating the prototypes. 
  • Rubrics and details will be given to the registered teams. So do register soon! (By 20 February 2022)
  • Note: The judges’ decision is final and no negotiations or correspondence with entrants will be entered into.

Timeline and Important Dates

  • Please ensure you have formed team of  5 (3 students, 2 teachers).
  • Each team must represent a school in Sarawak.

Those who have registered will be required to attend  coaching workshops as informed later. The workshops will explain what is expected from the competition and how to submit your entry.

(Each team must send at least 1 teacher for these workshops).

Each team shall submit their video (pitching about the innovation) using the given link later. The video will showcase 3 ideas to gamify the learning of topics within STEM subjects. The duration of the video is 10 minutes.

Based on the videos, judges will evaluate and shortlist 10 top innovative ideas. These 10 entries will then be given RM500 seed money to turn their ideas into a prototype for final submission.

Submission by the Top 10 shortlisted entries.

Winners will be announced.
