Remixed Play Workshop for Teachers of STEM Education on 3 April 2018

On 3rd of April, the CreativeCulture team had successfully conducted a workshop on Remixed Play for STEM Education which fits the theme of the STEM Education Colloquium, Sarawak Zone organised by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia that saw it being hosted by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. The purpose of this workshop was to introduce gamification through Design Thinking approach in the teaching and learning activities of STEM subjects. A short talk touched on the potential of gameful and playful approaches for reshaping learning to better match the needs of the 21st century knowledge economies followed by hands-on training on coming up with disruptive games for teaching and learning activities. The workshop took place at Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology which was attended by 31 teachers from different primary and secondary schools in Sarawak. Workshop on Remixing Play for Computational Thinking – 7 March 2018

On 7th of March, the CreativeCulture team had successfully conducted a session of Remixing Play with Computational Thinking trainers at Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UNIMAS. Held for half a day, the participants were exposed to the Design Thinking methodology before being thrown the challenge to come up with games that will aid in learning the various Higher-Order Thinking skills (HOTs) that form the basis of Computational Thinking (CT). Lead by Dr. Jacey-Lynn Minoi and assisted by Associate Professor Fitri Suraya Mohamad and Terrin Lim from the CreativeCulture team, the workshop witnessed 9 participants being introduced to various elements of Design Thinking that could be put to use in coming up with engaging games centred on CT. Gamification in Learning Workshop for CSCL Community Engagement 17-20 October 2017

A four-day workshop was held at the Learning Sciences Studio, the Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development UNIMAS, with 18 Masters in Learning Sciences students who are currently enrolled in a course on Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL).  The workshop is aimed to provide an opportunity to construct learning materials for teachers/educators who have never used Gamification in Learning.  The Design Thinking approach is used to think through the process of training, and to determine how Gamification elements can be integrated into the training process. The training materials are designed to facilitate in the teaching of STEM subjects, namely Science, Mathematics and English for Primary Schools in Malaysia.  For the purpose of the projects, two remote schools have been pre-selected for the training.  The schools share similar demographic characteristics – they are fishing villages, predominantly Malay, and of a low socio-economic income group.
