On 7th of March, the CreativeCulture team had successfully conducted a session of Remixing Play with Computational Thinking trainers at Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UNIMAS. Held for half a day, the participants were exposed to the Design Thinking methodology before being thrown the challenge to come up with games that will aid in learning the various Higher-Order Thinking skills (HOTs) that form the basis of Computational Thinking (CT).
Lead by Dr. Jacey-Lynn Minoi and assisted by Associate Professor Fitri Suraya Mohamad and Terrin Lim from the CreativeCulture team, the workshop witnessed 9 participants being introduced to various elements of Design Thinking that could be put to use in coming up with engaging games centred on CT. Starting off with a talk by Dr Jacey, the participants were then divided into 3 groups that were tasked to build a simple game based on game mechanics that focused on the HOTs and targeted at primary school children (7 to 12 years of age).
